The 2008 Houston Highland Games
& Celtic Festival presents...

Ed Miller, Needfire,
Jiggernaut and Loescher + Kenneth

Ed, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, now living in Austin, Texas, is a product of the 1960s folk revival in Scotland.
He moved to the United States in 1968 to complete his graduate work in Geography, and later Folklore, at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to his singing career, Ed is the host of a folk music program on Austin's
NPR station, KUT-FM.
Ed Miller is a performer who has
learned his craft in musical venues on both sides of the Atlantic... and a folklorist who brings his love of Scotland
to every performance. [Austin, Texas, USA]

Saturday: 1pm & 5pm - (AMECParagon Stage)

Ready for a little rock n roll with your Celtic music? Get set for Needfire- playing modern rock with deep Celtic roots, fire-driven instrumentals and hard-rocking songs. This nationally-touring Texas-based Celtic-rock band combines the talents of an award-winning Highland bagpiper and Celt-rock fiddle with electric guitars, bass and drums to create a unique mix of original songs and traditional Celtic music. "Needfire perfects the art of the rock n roll bagpipe…" writes the Salina Journal. Needfire’s high energy shows and original sound have captivated audiences of all ages throughout the U.S. and songs from their two independent CD releases have been aired on programs across the U.S. and Europe. Needfire- electric, acoustic, traditional, original. [Dallas, Texas, USA]

Saturday: 2pm & 7pm - (AMECParagon Stage)
Sunday:
1pm & 5pm - (AMECParagon Stage)

Jiggernaut
Jiggernaut is not your typical celtic band, nor are they your typical rock band. Formed in 2000, Jiggernaut is a powerful combination of Celtic, rock and folk music. Drawing from years of experience playing rock and roll, and blues the rythym section lays down a solid foundation that allows the accordian, bagpipes and vocals to soar.
A live Jiggernaut performance is passionate, energetic and always fun. Jiggernaut is the rare band that appeals to audiences from six to sixty, their tunes and songs tell the ancient stories and teach lessons of today’s world all in a style that is entirely their own. So what is Jiggernaut? Celtic musicians with a rock sensibility? Rock musicians with a Celtic sensibility?
You be the judge...

Saturday: 11am & 4pm - (AMECParagon Stage)
Sunday:
10am & 3pm - (AMECParagon Stage)

Loescher + Kenneth

Wolf Loescher and Mark Kenneth bring together a deep passion for Celtic Music and a love for ripping it up on stage. Wolf's earnest vocals and his rhythmic bouzouki align perfectly with Mark's tasteful and provocative accordian; while the tunes featuring Wolf's thrumming djembe and Mark's no-holds-barred white-hot accordion unfailingly bring people to their feet. Wolf and Mark, the undeniable on-stage energy that drove the Texas Celtic Rock crowd-favorite, Jiggernaut, now showcase their talents to the fullest in smaller, more intimate settings and stages.

Saturday: 10am & 3pm - (AMECParagon Stage)
Sunday:
